Key concepts to master Ayurveda  :

  • Get stronger with yogaYoga has gained wide recognition as people have made it a trend. But even before it was a trend, yoga was prescribed by Ayurveda.

Here are some of asanas which are ideal for improving sexual functionality for men and keep erectile issues at bay -
  • Naukasana - The boat pose activates hormones in men and increases libido. It also strengthens thigh and hip muscles enabling men to last longer during intercourse.

It is a simple pose that involves lying on the back and inhaling while lifting the chest and feet while the arms are stretching towards the legs. Hold this position for a few seconds and exhale as you get back to the original position.

  • Kumbhakasana - The plank pose is very effective when it comes to erectile dysfunction or ED and it is known to increase endurance during sexual intercourse. Apart from this, upper body strength comes as an added advantage.

It involves being in a kneeling position with hands on thighs as they are slowly extended on the floor in front. Then the buttocks and knees are to be raised slowly with the head, back, trunks and legs forming a line.

  • Dhanurasana - The bow pose is ideal for stimulation of reproductive organs and in the process it tackles premature ejaculation and intensifies orgasms while being effective against erectile dysfunction or ED.

It is done by lying on the stomach, raising legs and holding ankles which is followed by lifting the chest while breathing in. The legs are then pulled up and the position is to be held for 20 seconds.

  • Ardha ustrasana - This simple pose helps tone the entire body and solve digestion problems along with impacting the urogenital system in men.

One has to be in a kneeling position with knees apart. The left ankle is then to be held by the right hand as the left hand is stretched across the head. This position is to be held for 30 secs and then has to be performed again after switching sides.

While pills and treatments promise a lot of benefits for a person’s sex life, yoga and other physical activities are bound to have a much more holistic approach to solving sexual issues and keeping them at bay.

Wake up before the sun -

Most of the diseases today are the result of faulty lifestyle. These diseases could easily be avoided by avoiding the lifestyle mistakes people make.

Tip of the day :

According to Ayurveda, the simplest way to lead a healthy life is to follow the ‘Dinacharya’ according to Ayurveda. The first thing you should start practising is waking up before the sunrise. Waking up before the sunrise makes you more focused and productive throughout the day. You get extra hours to complete your daily household chores and set your biological clock for the day right. You will feel more motivated and calmer and will have a clear mind all through the day.

Eat healthy -

Now, the idea of “healthy” that the packaged food companies have is far away from the actual healthy food that accords with Ayurveda. The things you feel are healthy for you, just because the packet of food that is kept on the shelf of the supermarket says might need a reconsideration from you.

Ayurveda says that you will never need medicines if the food that you eat is healthy. The secret of healthy eating is based on your body type. The most appropriate type of food is “sattvic food”.

Eating seasonal fruits and vegetables and having only freshly prepared food is the way to go. It is advised to avoid junk and spicy food with a lot of oil because it slows you down. You should learn more about sattvic food and slowly start incorporating more of them in your diet.

Be sattvic -

Sattvic is derived from “Sattva” which stands for purity and positivity. Avoiding non-vegetarian food items and onion and garlic is the simplest way you can be sattvic but besides this, to increase the sattvic gunas in your body you must listen to sattvic music and be around sattvic people. Your behaviour towards people should also be sattvic.

Followers of the Sattvic diet primarily consume nutritious foods, including fresh produce and nuts, which is why this diet leads to a number of health benefits. In short, the Sattvic diet is a high fiber, low fat vegetarian diet. Animal proteins, fried foods, stimulants such as caffeine and white sugar are some of the food items that are excluded when following a Sattvic dietary pattern.

Sweat it out -

The skin is the largest sense organ and is the best one for detoxification. When the pores present on the skin are exposed to heat, they enlarge and allow impurities to release out of the body through sweat glands.

Sweating through “Swedana”, which is the Ayurvedic spa treatment that is a full-body massage which is then followed by a stream.

This helps in mobilizing the toxins in the body which are released out of the body through the pores. This is a very healthy practise that has been advised by Ayurveda since ages.

Don’t eat during extreme emotions -

It is always advisable that you must not eat your food while feeling emotions at extreme levels. It is a fact that when you are preoccupied by intense feelings, you will not be able to concentrate on your food that is served to you.

Extreme emotions can lead to :

This could lead to overeating, poor digestion, poor diet or dissatisfaction during and after the meal. You should wait until the emotions subside. You should take your time and then concentrate on the various flavours and textures of your food.

It is always advisable to eat in silence without touching your phone or eating while watching television. Distraction of any kind leads to the distribution of concentration.

Once you start putting all the concentration on your food, you will feel fuller and longer.

Eat your largest meal at lunchtime -

According to Ayurveda, the digestive fire of the body is at its peak when the sun is at its highest point in the sky i.e, from about 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Tip of the day :

The point here is that in comparison to your lunch, your breakfast and dinner should be lighter. Your lunch should have all the six tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent). Also make sure that your food has all the required nutrients (protein, carbs, fat, fibre etc) along with all the colours.
